Dr. Laura Pogue Completes International Cross Country Flight

October 16, 2007 - Dr. Laura A. Pogue, Chief Executive Officer of Complete Consulting, Inc., has completed a 5,520 mile cross country flight in the Diamond Twin Star DA42 Multi Engine airplane, as a continuation of her flight training. Presently, Dr. Pogue is a Commercial Instrument Pilot, with Single and Multi-Engine ratings from the Federal Aviation Administration.

Dr. Pogue's flight included stops in Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Illinois, Ohio, New York, Michigan, Missouri, and Texas, as well as flight over the Great Lakes and Canada. Dr. Pogue's entire flight route appears in the United States map, below.

Safety was the major emphasis in Dr. Pogue's flight navigation planning and air travels.  There were a few weather-related flight delays that required patience and flexibility.  According to Dr. Pogue, "My responsibility as a pilot is to use good judgment that results in safe flight with minimal weather and aircraft equipment-related risk, along with preparation for unexpected situations."

Below are a few of the flight's highlights:

  • Arrival and Departure with the jumbo jets at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, one of the largest, busiest airports in the world
  • Unexpected landing diversion from the Hartford, Connecticut airport to Albany International Airport
  • Landing at the Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport in Springfield , IL

The Diamond Twin Star is one of the most advanced multi-engine aircrafts in the world, as a diesel engine, piston aircraft with advanced airframe, avionics, and engine controls. It runs on Jet A fuel and is equipped with a Garmin G1000 global positioning system (GPS) and, therefore, is considered a jet transition training aircraft.
